Faceby Bank, Faceby, Coast to Coast
Faceby Bank fills the distance between Carlton Moor and Gold Hill. It occupies the ridge top over which the shared route of the Cleveland Way and the Coast to Coast path follow. To the north west the ridge top falls away steeply to the Faceby Plantation, a large stretch of conifer woodland located at the foot of the North York Moors between Carlton Moor and Knoll's End. To the east of Faceby Bank is Holey Moor, once known for the Carlton Gliding Club that was located there, but which has now been demolished.

Looking along the Coast to Coast path from Carlton Moor, Faceby Bank is seen to be a quite narrow ridge top with a steep bank to its west. The large mass of conifers are those lining the foot of the Bank and ascending uphill known as the Faceby Plantation.

The Coast to Coast path follows along Faceby Bank as it passes between Gold Hill and Carlton Moor. It is a narrow stretch of moorland which falls away sharply to the climbing conifers of Faceby Plantation to the west.

As you make your way towards Gold Hill from Carlton Moor you drop down as you near the Hill and obtain a clear view of the Faceby Plantation encircling the Hill. In the middle distance, beyond Gold Hill, is Live Moor.
