Looking across the How Edge gorge of Whitsun Dale to its west bank the limestone riverbank is impressively dramatic. The Beck below has narrowed as it winds through the gorge between the enclosed limestone butresses. The house at the top is Black Howe.

Looking along Whitsun Dale towards the River Swale, it is possible to make out How Edge, part of the How Edge Scars and the Beck negotiating Barney Brow.

An imposing fellscape from the west bank provides an outlook over Whitsundale Beck to How Edge Scars, Oven Mouth and a parcel of land between that has a pronounced light brown hue.

From the west bank of Whitsun Dale, How Edge Scars are seen as a sheer limestone band behind, and to the side, of the tall, bare trees. Caveside Gill is further back, running between Cop (488m (left)) and Ray Seat (470m).

Caveside Gill tumbles down the Ray Seat area of West Stonesdale Out Pasture, and over How Edge Scars, the steep limestone cliffs along the east riverbank of Whitsundale Beck.

Cop is a 488m hill above the east bank of Whitsundale Beck. Intake Gill, which springs a little south of Robert's Seat Band, becomes the Cop Gill as it flows around the side of Cop. The Gill continues its downward flight over the edge of How Edge Scars.
