The Yorkshire Dales section of the Coast to Coast path is traditionally divided into three sub-sections, each representing one day’s walk through this distinctive landscape of limestone scars, riverbank meadows, and quiet valleys.

Though less rugged than the Lake District, the Dales offer their own seasonal beauty — notably the bright yellow hay meadows, field barns, and sweeping pastureland that define the region’s charm. The area also has a long mining history, with many disused lead and mineral workings, some preserved as open-air museums or educational sites.
