The Village Green occupies the centre of the village. It is positioned to the south of the crossroads and is surrounded by most of the domiciles of this village. Danby Wiske once occupied the site now held by the Lost Village of Lazenby. Because of the risk of the Black Plague in the Middle Ages, the village was rebuilt where it currently stands, further from the banks of the River Wiske.

The dominent building at the village centre of Danby Wiske is the White Swan. The White Swan inn which was built around the 17th century. It provides B & B accomodation, which, due to its position on the Coast to Coast path, is a magnet for walkers. the pub was built as a dwelling house but was converted to an inn in the 18th century.

The housing around the village green is attractive and in keeping with the area, and most have off-street parking. Many of the village gardens are attractively displayed and well kept.

The village hall was erected in 1978 and an extension was created in 2010. It is used for committee meetings and for organizing activities such as sewing classes, afternoon teas, races, quizes, discos, dances, duck races, etc.

Housing around the outskirts of the village is attractive and many of the gardens have a pleasant range of mixed shrubs and flowers.

Danby Wiske Bridge is a Grade II Listed Building. It was erected in 1782 by the well known architect for that period, John Carr. It was built with coursed ashlar stone.

Danby Wiske Pariish Church is at the foot of a small cul-de-sac off Mounstrall Lane. The oldest parts of the building are Norman and have been incorporated into the more modern structure.
